My name is Jay and I live in North Wales. I have been suffering from depression for many years. I'm not always gloomy but I have my 'downtimes' and they are hell. My sister is a recovering alcoholic and there is a history of mental health issues in my family, which leads me to think it's perhaps not a myth that genetics play a big part in how we are.
I wanted to contact Monty Don because I love and respect his amazing work as a gardener and horticulturist but also I wanted to reach out to others who understand that not every human being operates in the world of sunshine and rainbows! If you haven't been there you can't understand and it makes the condition of depression a lot lonelier to bear.
I tried to contact the project via the website but my email message came back to me, so the email address appears not to be working. Maybe someone would be kind enough to check it out?
Meantime, I hope to contribute to this website in a positive way. I live in North Wales and my sister lives in Devon and it may be that we can contribute in a physical sense as well. I think it's time for humanity to reach out and touch somebody's hand...
